The Chinese Speech and Drama Enrichment Programme offered to students at Faith, Sengkang and Serangoon Methodist Preschools promises enjoyable Chinese-learning the musical way, through songs, musical compositions music, creative body movements, drama, poems and games. Conducted by professional and experienced instructors in the field, the theme-based approach enables children to learn Chinese effectively through fun and highly-engaging activities. In addition to Chinese learning, children’s social skills and self-confidence are greatly enhanced through the enriching speech and drama lessons.

Faith & Sengkang Methodist Preschools

Chinese Speech & Drama enrichment classes at Faith & Sengkang Methodist Preschools are conducted by Instructor Carol Ong Chai Pheng who has more than 20 years of experience in teaching speech and drama as well as dance in various schools and institutions. For many years she was a speech and performing arts teacher at Singapore Media Academy’s Little School for Big Dreamers as well as the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts and Cultural Troupe. She teaches in various primary school presently and was a former lecturer of "Music and Rhythm" for CPT (Certificate in Pre-school Teaching) course offered by AECES and KLC.

Chai Pheng was formally trained in dance in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and furthered her studies in New York. She has developed a series of “Music and Rhythm” curriculum and teaching materials that has been well-received by teachers in kindergartens and pre-schools. She is known for using music, dance and play in arts to develop children’s creativity and imagination as well as inspire their interest in Chinese language.  

Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschool

Chinese Speech & Drama enrichment classes at Serangoon Garden Methodist Preschool are conducted by professionally trained teachers from Glowing Kids Learning Point, who possess either Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Degree in Chinese Language.

Trainers will deploy age-appropriate methodology and curriculum content that cater to children from 2 – 6 years old. The play-based teaching approach for children at Playgroup and Nursery levels uses lively songs, simple stories and specially-developed activities with themes that are based on popular children’s stories.

K1 & K2 children’s performing activities will involve learning simple and easy-to-understand story dialogues combined with musical compositions and movements in allegro tempo, poems, tong twisters and singing
